The biggest public health problem faced by children and young people – and the most common reason why a child contacts Bris – is that of mental health issues. In an effort to draw attention to this issue, we invited the sand artist, Elisabeth Kristensen, to join us during the Almedalen week. Every day, for three days, Elisabeth created a portrait of a child who had taken their lives due to mental health issues. People passing by Bris’ tent on Hamngatan in Visby could watch as the portrait developed over the course of the day and learn the child in question’s story. Bris also organised public seminars to discuss ways of avoiding these tragic outcomes.
